Opal Stones

Opal, the October birthstone, from ₹820. Price per carat follows the fire — how much play-of-colour a stone shows, how bright it is and how evenly it covers the face — together with clarity. Two Australian opals of the same weight can differ several times over on fire alone, so every stone is priced on its own merits. Opal is worn as the upratna for Diamond (Heera), for Venus (Shukra), usually on an astrologer's advice. Ethiopian opal is hydrophane: it absorbs water and can go cloudy and lose its fire until it dries out again, so take it off before washing. Australian opal is not affected. At Mohs 5.5 to 6 both are soft, so avoid knocks and never use an ultrasonic cleaner. Each stone comes with a lab report from an ISO 9001:2015-certified laboratory.
