Zircon Stone (Jarkan Stone)

Natural Zircon Stones (Jarkan), a December birthstone, are available from ₹1,500 per carat. Zircon is a natural zirconium silicate mineral—Earth's oldest known mineral—and is entirely distinct from man-made cubic zirconia (CZ). White Zircon is worn as the traditional upratna for Diamond (Heera), representing Venus (Shukra) in Vedic astrology. A key identification feature of zircon is its high double refraction, causing the back facet junctions to look doubled under magnification. At Mohs 6 to 7.5, zircon is durable but brittle; its facet edges can chip under pressure, so avoid knocks, steam and ultrasonic cleaning.
