Detailed Product Description
This South Sea Cultured Pearl Stone (Moti Ratna) weighs 9.18 carat (10.09 ratti) and measures 10.90 x 10.80 x 10.60 mm, with a natural white colour and a round shape. South Sea origin, declared by Ratna Gems. Tested before dispatch with an authentic gem testing laboratory report included free of charge.
A South Sea cultured pearl is grown with human help in the large Pinctada maxima pearl oyster, usually around a shell bead that the oyster coats with layers of nacre. These oysters are farmed in the warm seas of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and their cultured pearls are among the largest grown, commonly about 8 to 20 mm. Pearl is an organic gem material, mainly calcium carbonate, rather than a mineral.
Appearance
This pearl has a round shape and a natural white colour with a soft, silky orient luster. South Sea cultured pearls can show small surface marks, tiny pits, growth lines or faint rings; these are normal features of an organic gem, not damage. The photos and video show this pearl's outline, colour and surface in clear detail.
Traditional Use
Cultured pearl, known as Moti or Moti Ratna and called Mukta in Sanskrit, is traditionally associated with the Moon (Chandra) in Vedic astrology. Customers buying it for astrological use usually follow their astrologer's guidance.
Care
Pearls are delicate compared with many mineral gemstones. Put this pearl on after perfume, cosmetics and hair spray, and take it off first. Wipe it gently with a very soft clean cloth after wearing and store it separately in a soft pouch or box. For occasional cleaning use warm soapy water gently, then dry it fully. Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaning, and keep it away from acids, harsh chemicals, heat, long periods of strong light and rough wear.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a South Sea cultured pearl?
A South Sea cultured pearl is grown with human help in the large Pinctada maxima pearl oyster, usually around a shell bead. The silver-lipped form of this oyster gives white to silver pearls and the gold-lipped form golden ones.
Is this South Sea Moti tested and verified?
Yes. Every gemstone is tested before dispatch with an authentic gem testing laboratory report included free of charge verifying its genuine saltwater pearl identity.
Is this South Sea Moti natural or cultured?
It is cultured, like every pearl Ratna Gems sells. Pearls that grow wholly without human help are a separate category. It is an authentic saltwater cultured pearl grown in the giant Pinctada maxima oyster.
How is a South Sea cultured pearl different from a freshwater cultured pearl?
A South Sea cultured pearl grows in a large saltwater oyster, usually around a bead, while a freshwater cultured pearl grows in a freshwater mussel, most often from a small piece of tissue alone. The two can look alike in photos, so only a laboratory can tell them apart; compare this pearl's own size, shape, colour and surface.
Which planet is Moti associated with?
In Vedic astrology Moti is traditionally associated with the Moon (Chandra). This is a traditional belief, not a promise of any result; customers usually follow their astrologer's guidance.
