Detailed Product Description
Natural Nepali Rudraksha Mala (108+1 Beads, 5 Mukhi) — 8 mm
This Natural Nepali Rudraksha Mala consists of 108 authentic 5 Mukhi beads plus one Guru bead (Bindu), strung in a traditional knotted design with calibrated 8 mm spherical beads. Naturally sourced from the Himalayan slopes of Nepal, each bead features well-defined natural clefts, dense wood fiber structure, and a deep, untreated earthy brown tone.
Botanical Identity & Physical Characteristics: Authentic Rudraksha beads are the natural dried endocarps of the fruit of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb. tree. Unlike smooth machine-carved or synthetic resin imitations, genuine Nepali 5 Mukhi beads exhibit naturally rough, deeply contoured surface convolutions and durable internal seed locules. The mala measures approximately 28 - 32 Inches Length (8 mm Beads), making it balanced, comfortable, and tactilely ideal for both traditional Japa meditation and daily wear.
Cultural & Spiritual Context: Classical Japa meditation malas feature 108 authentic beads plus one Guru bead (Bindu / Meru) marking the prayer cycle point. Dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kalagni Rudra), the 5 Mukhi bead is universally suitable for daily mantra recitation, meditation focus, and peaceful personal wear. Traditionally worn around the neck or held in the right hand during meditation, moving one bead per mantra recitation without crossing the central Guru bead.
Note on Protective Surface Powder & Water: Because Rudraksha is the natural seed of a tree (a wooden botanical seed), a brownish or orange protective powder is applied to the surface of the Rudraksha mala to protect the beads from insects. When placing the Rudraksha mala in water, this surface color may wash off into the water—this does not mean the Rudraksha beads are dyed; it is simply the insect-protective powder releasing from the surface.
Please Note: Ratna Gems shares these historical, cultural, and traditional details solely for educational and traditional awareness. We sell all Rudraksha beads strictly on the basis of verified botanical authenticity, physical integrity, and accredited laboratory certification, and make no astrological, metaphysical, or curative claims.
